Sunday dawned hot and sunny, or maybe I was just running a temperature!! Robin came to pick us up at 8am and off we went to the Animal Kingdom. Its the first time in years we've been to the park, so I was excited about going back. It didn't seem to have changed very much which was reassuring. We were there for opening and as soon as the rope dropped we dashed off to the safari ride. I really enjoyed that and we actually saw a lot of animals. It was a lovely start to the morning, though I was disappointed we no longer chase poachers along the way!! Maybe they have all been caught.
The park was crowded and hot, so many people. Is it an illusion or are they always going the opposite way and blocking your path? We did some other favourites - Dinosaur, A Bugs Life, Nemo the Musical etc. The Lion King show was as wonderful as ever. I loved them all. At lunch time we headed to Downtown Disney for lunch at Blaze. After lunch we returned to the Animal Kingdom, there were long queues for all the rides so we didn't end up doing any. Partly this was because we had passes to see a preview of the New Rivers of Light. It was quite exiting, as I thought we were going to miss this. We had a long wait for the show, over an hour and a half, people had started waiting long before it was due to start. The show was quite magical, beautifully done, with an amazing light show. However it only lasted 15 minutes, I am not sure if this was because it was a preview, or whether this is really how long the show will be. I'd be interested to know!
After the show we went back to Dinosaur and managed to ride that twice without any wait. Lucky for us as we love the ride. We left the park at 8pm, and headed to our hotel. I was shattered and hungry, so we decided to wander over to the pub next to the hotel and grab something to eat. I had a glass of wine, just what me and my germs needed and we had a sharing platter between us. The food was really good and a decent price. We both liked the place, and it was really convenient for the hotel. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area.
